Aruba is one of the safest Caribbean destinations
Aruba was ranked the #1 safest Caribbean island for travelers in 2025 by the Caribbean Island Safety Index. It also sits well outside the hurricane belt — a hurricane-free destination year-round.
Entry requirements — the ED Card
Every traveler flying into Aruba must complete an Aruba ED Entry Card before departure. There is a $20 per-person fee. Use only the official government site: edcardaruba.aw
Be careful here — look-alike sites appear at the top of search results and charge extra service fees for the same process. Check the web address before you pay.
At the airport
Plan to be at Queen Beatrix International Airport at least 3 hours before your departing flight. You’ll need time for car rental return, baggage check, security, and US customs pre-clearance, which is done in Aruba rather than on arrival home.
Money
Aruba’s currency is the Florin (also called the Guilder). US dollars are accepted nearly everywhere. The usual rate is about 1.75 Florins to the US dollar. Note that credit cards may add a foreign exchange fee.

Downloading WhatsApp on your phone lets you communicate for free while on the island — it’s how most locals, and Maricarmen, stay in contact.
Shopping
Aruban stores do not supply bags or boxes. Bring your own or purchase them at checkout.
Beach gear
We provide 8 beach chairs, beach towels, and a cooler. We do not provide snorkeling equipment or beach umbrellas.
Medical Care
There are clinics and a hospital located on the island if needed. Local pharmacies (Boticas) frequently have the availability for a phone consult with a licensed physician for around $40 US. Prescriptions can be obtained, if necessary.
